The studio behind PlayStation classic Syphon Filter is bringing an open world zombie survival game exclusively to PlayStation 4.
After a 12-year hiatus from console development in favor of portable platforms, acclaimed Syphon Filter and Uncharted: Golden Abyss developer Sony Bend is returning to AAA game production in full force with a compelling open world zombie game called Days Gone. A surprise at Sony's E3 press conference, Days Gone envisions a post-zombie, ruined world dominated by bikers, bounty hunters, and mercenaries. Similar to The Last of Us, players will scour the environment for resources to keep themselves going against the hordes.
A gameplay demo from E3 shows off some impressive storytelling and animation, but it's the hordes of aggressive and terrifyingly mobile zombies that steal the show. Far from the dim-witted shamblers of the early Resident Evil titles, these things run at you at full pelt, able to vault and climb over any surface. Seeing the ludicrous amounts of zombies on-screen at once recalls the initial feeling of terrifying and confused spectacle that was experiencing the original Dead Rising for the first time.
