Today is that special day where we glorify and spoil and our significant other more than most days. In celebration of such a loving day we have singled out a few couples that make our hearts go "doki doki" sort of.
Mario and Peach - Super Mario series
Mario and Peach's relationship is essentially a damsel in distress story told through the course of multiple video games. Mario will always be at Peach's aid whether it's finding out she's in another castle, rescuing her from the confused Bowser Jr., or just wanting to ride go-karts together. There's nothing that can separate these two.
Nathan Drake and Elena Fisher - Uncharted series
What started out as a friendship turned into something more. Nate and Elena have had each other's back since 2007 and it doesn't seem to be letting up. Nate is a treasure hunter and Elena is a journalist yet they start to fall in love from the moment they meet. Whether Nate is fighting off mercenaries in the Himalayas or fighting for survival on a pirate infested cruise ship, he knows that she'll always have his back and probably some doughnuts with his name on it.
Let it be known though, Elena isn't just some damsel in distress, she can hold her own in a shootout and is equally skilled in climbing to death-defying heights which only makes them closer to equals.
I guess you can say they treasure their relationship.
Raiden and Rose - Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty
"Jack do you remember what day it is tomorrow?"
"I remember now! Today is the day I met you!"
See! That is love! Remembering the day you met someone. I can't even remember what I had for dinner last night.
Sonic the Hedgehog and Princess Elise - Sonic the Hedgehog
Eat your heart out Amy Rose there's a new girl on the block and not only is she a princess but Sonic actually runs towards her instead of away. All jokes aside (for now) this is probably the weirdest couple on this list but that's what makes it worth highlighting because what the heck were you thinking Sonic Team?
Whether you like this relationship or hate it you can be sure that this couple tells a better love story than Twilight.

Then comes more barf
Tyson Rios and Elliot Salem - Army of Two series
BROMANCES COUNT OKAY. JUST TWO DUDEBROS BRO-ING IT OUT ON THE BRO-FIELD SHOOTING UP A BUNCH OF BADBROS. BRO. LOVE CAN TOTALLY BLOOM ON THE BATTLEFIELD. ESPECIALLY BRO-LOVE.
Jill Valentine and Nemesis- Resident Evil 3: Nemesis
From the second they met, Nemesis was seeing "STARSSSSSS" but I think he was actually seeing "HEARTSSSSSSS." I mean, why else would he chase Jill around the streets of Raccoon City? To kill her?
I bet if she would have stopped shooting at him, he would have asked her out on a date. Zombies and chill anyone?
Squall and Rinoa - Final Fantasy VIII
He's just a boy, she's just a girl, can I make it anymore obvious?
The Final Fantasy series doesn't really stray away from romantic plots: Tidus and Yuna, Cloud and Aeris/Tifa, it goes on. But what I like about Final Fantasy VIII is how a character like Rinoa who is just this loving and optimistic character can somehow manage to get a character as cold and angsty as Squall, to slowly care about and fall in love with her. It's hit or miss with fans on if they like the relationship or not but one thing is certain, it all started with the ballroom dance and they hit it out of this world....in a matter of speaking.
Squall, how do you feel about your relationship with Rinoa?
Pequod and LZ - Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain
Happy Valentine's Day everyone.
