Naughty Dog kicked off this year's event to thundering applause.
Watching the beginning of this year's PSX live was a marvel. A beautiful woman clad in a traditional hijab sneaks her way through a war torn city, death threatening to swallow her up at any moment. The detailed environment and fluid animations immediately caught my attention, but it was the intensity and mystery of it all that held it. Who was this woman? What were her goals? Where is she?
What is this game?
So many thoughts went through my head. A new Assassin's Creed? Tomb Raider? Prince of Persia? The Last of Us 2 (HA!). The climax of the gameplay demo reveals her to be none other than Uncharted femme fatale Chloe Frazier, who sat out Uncharted 4: A Thief's End. Additionally, she's assisted by Uncharted 4 sort-of antagonist Nadine Ross. The tone is certainly more grim than Uncharted generally is, and a Naughty Dog adventure led by a pair of strong women is evocative of the exceptional The Last of Us: Left Behind.
Naughty Dog has stated that Uncharted: The Lost Legacy will be a standalone release rather than story DLC for Uncharted 4. We don't have a release timeframe or an estimated price point yet, but we'll let you know as we learn more.
