Music Monday: My 10 Favorite Dan Bull Songs

When I started Music Monday, I always intended to highlight the wonderful talents of Dan Bull. Dan is a nerdcore rapper that made it big on Youtube after his now famous Skyrim Epic Rap.  Since that song he's released hundreds of video game inspired raps, almost all of which are awesome in their own rights. But, I only want to talk about the best of the best. In no particular order, these are what I consider the Top 10 best Dan Bull raps.

Music Monday: Xenogears

Before I knew who Yasunori Mitsuda was and before I understood the nuances of Irish influences in music even with the inclusion of Irish singer Joanne Hogg, and before I was curious enough to look up both I knew one thing; I loved the Xenogears soundtrack.

Music Monday: Megalovania

Music Monday is back! Today I will go over what is, arguably, the most popular song from the indie game, Undertale. I will give this warning right now, from here on out, there will be spoilers for the game. I will be going over a certain boss battle and themes that are going on in the second half of the game. If you want nothing spoiled for you, avoid this article. You have been warned.

Music Monday: Forever Famicom Review

I love stories. It’s why I love writing, it’s why I love games, it’s why I love movies, and to some extent, it’s why I love music. Music often tells a story in much the same way a person would or even a movie or book. It’s one of the things that I love about the artist Eminem; his ability to tell a story. Whether it be funny or depressing, Eminem can always deliver a clear, passionate story in any one of his songs. This is something that Mega Ran, a popular nerdcore rapper, also does exceptionally well, and at certain points he may tell them even better than Eminem or any other rapper. He takes video game soundtracks and uses them as a means to tell his story, and one of the best examples of that is the album Forever Famicom.

Music Monday: The Revival

Music is all around us; we hear it on TV, in movies, on the radio, and even in the sounds of nature. Music impacts us and it shapes us. Music can be an escape from the harsh realities of life. Music is emotional, raw, energetic, but most importantly, music is powerful. Music is used to set a mood, to influence our emotions, and to truly bring us into the lives of others. Video Game music does this in a way that fully captures our emotions and invests us in the plight of our characters. In a game, Music is as vital as the visuals themselves, and while we may not always notice it when it’s there, we feel the loss of it when it’s gone.

Music Monday is my attempt to share the wonderful game soundtracks that have moved me or impacted me. Music Monday is my attempt to shine a light on some of the best musical compositions in all of gaming. Not only is it to highlight soundtracks and individual songs, but also gamer renditions of these classics. Artist’s like Mega Ran, Smooth McGroove, Lindsay Stirling, and so many more that have taken it upon themselves to reimagine these beautiful pieces and share them with the world. Music Monday is a celebration of the music that has impacted gamers for decades, and will continue to impact them forever. I’m not a musician and thusly can’t talk about all the intricate aspects of these songs and their composition, but I can discuss the songs that left an impact on me.
