APG’s Top Scoring Games of 2015

2015 was a magnificent year for games. The next generation of consoles finally got into a nice rhythm and there was no shortage of great titles for all of us to enjoy. Which ones stood out as the best of the best for us here at APG?

Ori and the Blind Forest - Score: 9.5/10

"Ori and the Blind Forest is one of the best games of this generation and is a prime example of a modern day Metroidvania game. Ori is also a perfect example of video games being an art form, yet still being a challenging and incredibly fun game. This game can do almost no wrong and is a must play by everyone, especially fans of Metroidvania games." - Austin Bascle (read the full review here)

Shovel Knight - Score: 9/10

"Yacht Club Games designed a nearly perfect replica of classic 8-bit games, taking inspiration from Mega Man, Ducktales, Castlevania, and several others. Shovel Knight encapsulates all there is to love about the classic 8-bit and 16-bit era with very little of the frustration." - Austin Bascle (read the full review here)

Batman: Arkham Knight - Score: 10/10

"Batman: Arkham Knight marks the Dark Knight and the developer Rocksteady’s first foray on next gen hardware and for the first time, I truly felt like I was the Batman." - Symmion Moore (read the full review here)

Until Dawn - Score: 9/10

"In the past few years we have had horror games released such as Amnesia, Five Nights At Freddy's and The Evil Within and while they are all good in their own way, to me, they fail to capture what Until Dawn has grasped so well: what a horror game should feel like." - Symmion Moore (read the full review here)

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain - Score: 9/10

"In spite of the downfall of the short story straight out of Kojima’s trapper keeper, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will go down as one of the greatest games ever released." - William Armstrong (read the full review here)

Undertale - Score: 9/10

"Undertale embraces its retro roots and its consistent self-awareness makes it one of the most unique games I've ever played. In a gaming world bombarded by 'bigger is better,' Undertale is refreshing in its minimalist approach and atypical nature that it so gloriously embraces." - Brent Townend (read the full review here)

King's Quest: A Knight to Remember - Score: 9/10

"Whether its later installments can match the highs of this debut is irrelevant: A Knight to Remember stands at the top of modern adventure game design, and The Odd Gentlemen can be proud for delivering one of 2015's very best experiences." - Shane Dent (read the full review here)

Bloodborne - Score: 9.5/10

"Bloodborne is absolutely nothing like most games, throwing the player into an unknown world and letting them carve out their path, however they like. While it did sometimes push me to my absolute limit, for every soul crushing defeat there is a victory that made me pump my fist in the air and shout in triumph." - Ian Youngren (read the full review here)
